OBEY Civil Disobedience

OBEY calls us to rally through the Civil Disobedience campaign to spread the news that we do not tolerate ignorance. This message is the backbone of OBEY.

As we all know, OBEY is founded on the belief that diversity is a great wealth and that there is no more just life experience than another. The brand is based on the idea that any injustice is a threat to the whole of justice; in the words of Martin Luther King, "injustice anywhere threatens justice everywhere".

The Awareness campaign was created to educate, to raise funds and to raise awareness of the causes and organizations that OBEY supports. 100% of the proceeds from Awareness programs are donated to charity.

In response to the recent events in Charlottesville, Virginia, OBEY has decided to take a stand and not tolerate injustice in any form and anywhere. To this end, OBEY presents the Awareness campaign "Civil Disobedience" - civil disobedience.

Shepard Fairey introduces the campaign like this:

"We created the Civil Disobedience series to condemn injustice, because it is important that it be done clearly and publicly. I know this because musicians like The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Public Enemy and Bob Marley have made their voices heard, inspiring me to watch. to politics and social issues with a critical eye and a willingness to try to make things fairer. I have found other examples in visual artists such as Robbie Conal, Barbara Kruger, Keith Haring and Winston Smith - the latter created most of the covers of the Dead Kennedys, and contributed to this Civil Disobedience series.

I've always thought that art on a wall or t-shirt is a good way to demonstrate a point of view and start a conversation that wouldn't otherwise happen. Intolerance, racism and pointing the finger at are lazy and ignorant acts, but they will continue to persist if we observe them in silence. Apathy creates a permissive environment for hate. If we don't like racists and bigots to think they can profess their messages in the light of day, then we need to publicly uphold the values of diversity, religious freedom, equality, and human dignity. It is we who must shape the future, and have the courage to use our voices and act. If you care, thank you. "

Taking this cause to heart is exactly what we must do too, because events like those in Charlottesville have resonance even outside the US borders. Let us undertake to raise awareness of the fact that actions of a fascist, neo-Nazi and racist matrix will not be accepted.

OBEY calls us to rally through the Civil Disobedience campaign to spread the news that we do not tolerate ignorance. This message is the backbone of OBEY.
